Tomato Sauce

Tomato sauce is a mother sauce, you can’t leave culinary school without knowing how to make it. In life it should be the same way. Tomato sauce is a base to so many soups, stews and braises. Tomato sauce is also perfect on its own. I love this tomato sauce, because it’s easy, uses fresh ingredients and it’s delicious.

Directions

Add olive oil to a medium sauce pot and heat to medium high.

Add garlic and season with salt, mix.

Add basil and mix.

Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.

Add tomato sauces and mix well.

Add ¼ cup water and mix.

Simmer for 20 minutes.

Season with Kosher salt and pepper.

2 garlic cloves sliced

¼ teaspoon Kosher salt

¼ cup chopped fresh basil

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1  15-ounce can tomato puree

1 cup San Marazano peeled whole tomatoes
