Fig and prosciutto pizza

Figs are a polarizing fruit, for people either love them or hate them. I happen to love them, and I created this pizza while looking for something special to pair with prosciutto. Figs happened to be in season, and the PAF pizza was born!

Directions:

  1. In a medium size-mixing bowl mix warm water and yeast.
  2. Slowly add honey, mix gently.
  3. Next, add 1 cup of flour and salt then gently mix.
  4. Add the next cup of flour to the mixture and slowly knead the dough.
  5. Form the dough into a small ball and tightly cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
  6. Put the bowl in a warm area and let it rest for about an hour
  7. Remove the dough and knead for a few minutes.
  8. Put it back in the bowl and let it rest for another 1/2 hour.
  9. When you’re done it’s time to make pizza,
  10. Place the figs on a small to medium-sized cutting board, and remove the stems.
  11. Cut the figs in half from the growing end to the flowering end and place into a medium-size bowl.
  12. Grab a handful of arugula and sprinkle it over top of the pizza and let the heat from the pizza slightly wilt the greens and then slice and serve.
  13. The best part about this pizza is the arugula, which also doubles as the garnish.
  14. The vibrant green color gives you the hint of elegance that food needs.
  15. This pizza can be served on a plate or a wooden cutting board for extra umph.

Tip – If you bake the crust for a few minutes before adding the toppings you will prevent the cheese from becoming too brown.
