Halloween Sugar Cookies

What is Halloween with out decorating sugar cookies. To begin  it really is about being with your family and doing the activity together. If that means you use can frosting and pre bought cookies, well then I am not going to stop you. However these sugar cookies are amazingly good. When you first bake them they are crisp and then after you frost them they are soft, sweet and chewy.

INSTRUCTIONS

Sugar Cookie Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, in a mixer beat cream together the sugar, butter, and vanilla until it is light and airy.
  2. Next stir the flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Place cookie dough in a flat disc and wrap in plastic wrap and roll tightly.
  4. Refrigerate until the cookie dough is firm and then cut into round circles.
  5. On a floured surface roll the dough to 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch and then use a circular cookie cutter cut out your cookies.
  6. Line the cookies on a light colored cookie sheet and parchment paper.
  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  8. Let cool and remove and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Frost cookies.
  10. Serve.

Buttercream Frosting

  1. In a medium mixing bowl add the softened butter and vanilla. Use an electric mixer and mix the butter until it’s whipped. Slowly mix in all of the powdered sugar. Add the milk to loosen the frosting. Use the frosting to frost cookies, cake or cupcakes
