Halloween is the perfect opportunity to put some spooky characters on some not so spooky favorite foods. My boys are loving all the decorations of Halloween and on Sunday when I made some banana chocolate chip muffins I decided to add some spooky spiders on top. Spooky spiders can be added to any muffin or cupcake.
Here is what you need:
- 1 dozen muffins or cupcakes (in this picture I used our delicious chocolate chip banana muffins)
- 1 cup dark chocolate or milk chocolate chip
- 24 candy eyes (you can buy them at any cake shop or Michael’s craft shop in the cake section
- 2 large plastic bag
How to:
- Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave by heating at 10 second intervals, mixing and repeat until the chocolate is melted (be careful not to over cook the chocolate)
- Fill 1 plastic bag with half the chocolate and the remaining chocolate in the other bag.
- Cut a very small hole in one of the corners of 1 plastic and a little bit bigger cut in the second bag.
- When the muffins have cooled use the bag with the slightly larger hole to make a circle the size of a quarter to 1/2 dollar.
- Then use the other plastic bag to pipe out 8 legs.
- Finish with eyes.
- Serve!
This is a great way to add some festive spookiness to almost any baked good.
