If you’re cooking chicken then odds are you’re handling it while it’s raw and let’s be honest messing with raw chicken isn’t fun. Here are some tips to make cooking and cleaning chicken a better experience.

  • When the chicken is slightly frozen then the chicken is firmer and easier to cut the fat from the meat.
  • With a slow stream of cold water rinse the chicken with cold water if it needs it and then pat dry (make sure it is really dry).
  • Use gloves to touch the chicken.
  • Keep a trash bag/can close by so you can throw away the bone, fat and skin easily.
  • Clean and prepare the chicken ahead of time so when you cook the dish you aren’t worrying about cleaning and trimming it.
  • Cover the chicken with herbs or spices to make the chicken less slimy
  • Buy chicken at the butcher station and have them clean, cut and dry the chicken.
